How To Grow Spiritually

How To Grow Spiritually

When you plant a seed, it needs good soil, water, and sunlight to grow and be healthy. In the same way, spiritual growth requires prayer, Bible reading and study, and community with other believers. See below for some resources to encourage spiritual growth in your life.

READ THROUGH THE BIBLE WITH US
2026 is our fifth year in a row of following a Bible reading plan together. Our first year we read through the entire Bible. The second year we narrowed our focus to the New Testament, Psalms and Proverbs. Last year we focused even more on just the Gospels and Acts, plus Psalms and Proverbs. The reading plan was five days a week to give us more time to marinate and meditate on these shorter passages. I think it’s important to read through the entire Bible, but it’s also important to slow down and linger longer in passages.

This year we are again going through the New Testament, Psalms and Proverbs.

We have a high priority on reading and studying God’s Word here at Valley View and I’m so grateful for all who love God’s Word and are committed to regularly studying it. I hope this helps us all spend more time thinking about Jesus this year!

MEMORIZE SCRIPTURE WITH US

Psalm 119:11 reminds us of the importance of intentional scripture memorization. In 2023 Pastor John challenged our church family to memorize one scripture each month (See the Vision 2023 message here.)  One very effective memorization aid is setting scripture to music. JOIN US FOR LIFE GROUPS EACH WEEK

Life Groups provide encouragement, accountability, and support needed to live life for Christ.  We have life groups for every age and every life stage. Our life groups meet Sundays at 9:30 AM or in various homes throughout the week. Click here to find a life group.

TAKE PART IN A DGROUP

dGroups (Discipleship Groups) are short-term topical Bible studies on a variety of subjects. dGroups typically meet for 6 – 10 weeks and new sessions begin in the Spring, Winter, and Fall. Learn more about the dGroups currently meeting here.

CATCH THE VISION

Our Worship and Vision Night  is the time of year where we pause and cast vision for where we believe God is taking Valley View in the coming year. We began focused on being Hungry and Dependent in 2022. It was a powerful year of seeing that theme show up in so many areas of the church. In 2023/2024 we built on that momentum as we saw Christ open doors for reaching our community. Our vision for 2025 was for our church to grow into an “oak of righteousness” (Isaiah 61:3).

In 2026 our vision is “Walk By Faith.”
