KEEP GROWING IN 2025
Our theme for the year is “Grow into Oaks of Righteousness.” We want to grow steady and strong like a mighty oak tree, which takes time and daily focus on God’s Word. We are studying the book of Proverbs to help us grow in wisdom. Colby recently wrote to the students about how he grew in God’s word as a new Christian:

Can you recall the best gift that you were ever given? I have had a number of things as a kid I cherished for a long time until they wore out. There were also trips and experiences that were amazing. The one thing though that stands out was my very first Bible. After high school I went to Asbury to play baseball but was not yet a Christian or a reader. I needed a Bible for class, so my mom went to Walmart and bought an imitation leather KJV. I remember getting it from her and initially viewing it as just a textbook that I needed for class, but soon I would see it as a personal letter from God to my soul.
When I became a Christian later that year, I immediately picked up that Bible and started reading it. I started memorizing it and talking about it. I started leading devotions with it and sharing its truth with strangers. I soon switched to a more readable translation like the NIV and then the ESV. Yet despite the translation or the quality of the cover, it was the best gift I had ever received because God used it to spark in me a hunger, desire, and delight in His Word. I would not have found delight in God’s word without such a gift.

Colby’s story serves as a great reminder of the power of God’s Word to help us Grow into Oaks of Righteousness. This Sunday we will be studying Proverbs 7. Take time this week to read ahead and consider how God might be speaking to you through his word!
