Ancient Wisdom is Always Available
One of the things that is important when stepping into a new task is having access to a trusted mentor. When I first stepped into a leadership role in ministry, I was connected with a trusted mentor who could help me along the way. He had been successful in business, leading a large electronics company with over 7,000 people working for him at one point. Needless to say, he had lots of experience with people. One of the first things he said to me as my mentor was, “If you ever need anything, you call me. That’s what I’m here for. Don’t even hesitate.” It was hard to believe that a guy this successful and full of wisdom was so eager to help me with problems I faced that were probably trivial to him. But true to his word, he was always available to help me navigate a challenge and always had wise insight into the situation that seemed unsolvable to me. And even though I’ve since left the ministry where he was my official mentor, he still is eager to answer my calls and offer advice and wisdom.
