How to Know God’s Will Part 2
It was early in 2004. I arrived home from a day at the office and found a present waiting for me from Julie. I had no idea what it could be: My birthday wasn’t for months, no other holidays were near, and I couldn’t recall doing anything especially amazing that deserved a gift (though, who knows). I prodded for a hint but she wouldn’t budge, “just open it.” Inside was an unexpected gift. It was a positive pregnancy test. At first I wondered why she was giving it to me and then it hit me like an old wall falling over in the fellowship hall, “OH! We’re going to have a baby!” That was an incredible day.
We at Valley View have been praying since July for God to provide the funds to renovate the Fellowship Hall. Sunday morning, right at the end of praying with the Elders before the service, we received an unexpected gift. After a few of us had specifically prayed for God to provide, I received a text message saying that an anonymous gift of $40,000 had just been given! That means (barring any major changes to the project quote we received in July), that God has provided the funds for the fellowship hall! And though that’s not as big of an unexpected gift as having a baby (though Cliff, our facilities manager, might disagree by the end of it all), it’s still really big news!
If you were planning to give a gift to this project, please still do so. We are waiting on final numbers from the manufacturer and may still need additional gifts depending on whether costs have increased since July.
It’s too early to give a timeline for when the walls will be replaced, but more than likely it will be summer because of manufacturing delays that everyone is facing and it’s a time when those rooms are least used. But all of this is still shaping up. For now we celebrate God’s amazing provision!
